History of Choru School

The school was established in 1935 as a private school in erstwhile Tehsil Hamirpur of District Kangra which was popularly known as Trigart. Master Shri Dhian Chander and Shri Dharam Chand were the main personalities who laid the foundation stone of this institution. The population of the area comprises mainly of scheduled castes and backward classes. The school was patronised by social workers of the area till 1953 when it was taken over by the  government.
The state government upgraded the school to the middle standard in 1986. The people of the area made tireless efforts to get the school upgraded as a High School in 1994 and finally to government senior secondary school in 2006. The crowning of this school to the plus two level has proved a boon for the down trodden people of the area especially the girls. The students come to this school to take  their lessons in a radious of 8 kilometres which is otherwise surprising for the district which is dense in educational  institutions.
At present a total of 242 students are enrolled  in the school. In plus one and plus two, students can opt for Commerce and Humanities streams only in the absence of Science stream.
The total 22 members of the staff are serving in the school. A discipline loved Mr. Kushal Patyal served as first principal of this school followed by eminent educationist Mrs Sudershana Minhas and present incumbent is Mr. B.K. Sharma.
